DAVID HOCKNEY - Works and History
David Hockney is a British painter known for his depictions of life in Los Angeles.
In his vibrant Pop Art paintings, Hockney captures the city’s hedonistic atmosphere and culture, the residents’ leisure activities, and the weather.
“I prefer to live in color,” the artist has said of his decision to settle in California.
Hockney, who has also dabbled in printmaking, photography, stage design, and most recently, drawing on an iPad, credits Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse as inspirations for his signature painting style.
Hockney has lived and worked in England again since 2000.
He spends most of his time in the countryside in the East Riding of Yorkshire and continues to paint outdoors.
